About the job
Under the direction of the Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of accounting, reporting, and bookkeeping functions and services.
Responsibilities:
– Performs accounts receivable functions including the posting of AR payments to customer accounts and recording daily cash deposits.
– Performs various accounts payable functions including: Prepare and process accounts payable invoices, Maintain vendor files as needed, Process A/P weekly payments
– Assists in preparation of audit work papers.
– Assist the Controller with projects as needed.
– Performs data entry for monthly budget vs actual reports.
– Manages Cash Functions including: Maintain and update the general fund check register daily, Maintain electronic banking records and process A/P ACH & Wire transfers, Prepare daily cash report and post transactions as needed.
– Enters power supply data, generates monthly power supply bills and maintains power supply billing worksheets.
– Maintains and updates multiple financial spreadsheets including, but not limited to, legal summaries, power supply expenses, legal charges, etc.
– Responsible for data collection and entry for various monthly and quarterly reconciliations and reports
– Responsible for data collection and sub-ledger data entry for grant revenue and expenditure tracking. Assist the Controller with grant reporting submissions as needed.
– Processes customer rebates under the Renewable Energy Standard program
– Responds to member system inquiries and questions, including questions requiring accounting support.
– Serves as back up for various other accounting duties as requested.
– Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
– Duties require knowledge of financial accounting, auditing, and financial principles equivalent to completion of four years of college and/or one to three years of progressively responsible related experience.
– Experience with utilizing NetSuite ERP.
– Ability to recognize areas of financial concern and to propose recommendations.
– Ability to recognize account variances, research, problem solve and articulate explanations.
– Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; to establish positive public relations for the organization, department/and or division, and to interact effectively with a wide variety of people.
– Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks, ability to be flexible and ability to meet deadlines.
– Willingness to work with a variety of individuals on projects.
– Ability to recognize departmental priorities and work cooperatively to support their accomplishment.
