Controller

My client is targeting a Controller in the $130-140k range. This controller needs international experience with either Europe or Canada and ideally comes from a manufacturing background.

This senior finance role is responsible for all accounting and finance-related operations for multinational businesses, including but not limited to financial reporting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and staff development. This role involves ensuring work is performed accurately and promptly for the correct completion of financial statements and also serves as the primary liaison to banks, external auditors, and facility management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accountable for a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; introducing a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Management of the production of routine financial reports; ensures adherence to standard accounting practices.
• Recommending performance measurement benchmarks.
• Development of annual budget and forecasts; reporting any significant discrepancies to management.
• Contributing to financial analysis to support operational performance, inventory management, capital investments, and commercial decisions.
• Management of multi-currency cash flow and ensuring timely and accurate payments.
• Review monthly journal entries, bank reconciliations, and analysis of income statement for errors or miscoded transactions.
• Ensuring training requirements are met and fostering a positive work environment to retain employees.
• Undertaking other assigned duties based on company needs and abilities.

This position requires supervision and direction of accounting department operations including setting goals, performance reviews, and managing disciplinary issues.

Work Environment:

This role operates in a professional office environment with the possibility of exposure to a manufacturing environment, including forklift traffic, fumes, noise, and operating manufacturing equipment.

Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of computer work.
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.

Hours of Work:

This is a full-time office position with standard working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. Additional times, including weekends, may be required occasionally to meet customer demands and company objectives.

Travel:

Periodic international travel may be required for training activities or support of assigned plants/locations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance or Business Administration.
• A minimum of seven years of related experience.
• At least three years of experience as a Controller supporting a multi-business site with over 100 million in revenue.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth company.
• Experience in a manufacturing/distribution environment using a fully integrated ERP.
• Master’s degree in Accounting / Finance or related field, CMA or CPA certification.
• International accounting experience with IRFS and foreign currencies.
