About the Opportunity
A highly regarded hospitality group is launching an exciting new restaurant concept in the heart of the West Village. Located in a historic space at 239 W 4th St., this new venture will breathe fresh life into a beloved neighborhood address. While the name of the restaurant will be finalized in January 2025, the mission is already clear: to combine the rich history of this iconic location with a vibrant, contemporary dining experience.
This intimate, 38-seat restaurant will center around a beautiful bar, celebrating the best of seasonal ingredients, community, and creative culinary artistry. Guests will enjoy dishes that balance comforting familiarity with inventive sophistication, alongside a thoughtfully curated wine and beverage program featuring natural, organic, and biodynamic selections.
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Executive Chef to lead this culinary project and establish its place as a cornerstone of the West Village dining scene.

The aim is to craft a neighborhood favorite with global appeal, offering a warm, welcoming atmosphere paired with exceptional food and thoughtful hospitality.
The Role: Executive Chef
As the Executive Chef, you will lead the kitchen team in developing a culinary program that honors tradition while embracing creativity and innovation. Your leadership and expertise will shape the menu, the guest experience, and the overall success of this exciting new venture.
Core Responsibilities
1. Menu Development:
Create a seasonal, ingredient-driven menu that emphasizes fresh, local produce.
Incorporate European-inspired techniques and modern culinary trends to deliver exciting and memorable dishes.
Develop signature offerings that captivate guests and inspire return visits.
2. Team Leadership:
Recruit, train, and mentor a cohesive back-of-house (BOH) team, including sous chefs, line cooks, and prep staff.
Foster a positive and collaborative kitchen culture that prioritizes respect, creativity, and excellence.
Uphold the highest standards of food preparation, presentation, and consistency.
3. Operational Excellence:
Manage food preparation, inventory, and procurement to ensure efficiency and cost control.
Maintain full compliance with NYC Department of Health regulations and safety protocols.
Optimize kitchen operations to ensure seamless service during peak hours.
4. Collaboration with Leadership:
Work closely with ownership and front-of-house leaders to align the kitchen’s vision with the overall guest experience.
Actively contribute to strategic planning and innovation to drive culinary and business success.
5. Research & Development:
Continuously refine and test new dishes and techniques to keep the menu dynamic and engaging.
Stay informed about industry trends and guest feedback to ensure the menu remains fresh and relevant.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for a passionate, hands-on leader with extensive experience in high-end, chef-driven kitchens.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in an Executive Chef or comparable leadership role in upscale dining.
Technical Expertise: Mastery of classic and modern cooking techniques, with a focus on seasonal and ingredient-driven cuisine.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to inspire, mentor, and manage a high-performing team.
Hospitality Mindset: A passion for creating exceptional guest experiences through food.
Operational Acumen: Strong skills in inventory management, cost control, and kitchen systems.
Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with NYC health codes and Food Handler’s Certification.
References: Two professional references from reputable NYC establishments.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $110,000–$130,000, commensurate with experience.
Healthcare: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance (employer contribution TBD).
Paid Time Off (PTO): 10 days (negotiable).
