About the job

Our client, a Jewish non-profit organization based in Toronto, is seeking a motivated and dynamic Business Project Manager to join their team. This role is ideal for a self-starter with a proven track record of driving results, developing strategies, and delivering impactful solutions. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment, leads cross-functional initiatives with confidence, and demonstrates the ability to work independently when needed.

The organization operates 10+ semi-independent departments, and the Business Project Manager will play a key role in providing strategic guidance to help these departments excel as leaders within their respective communities.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional, collaborative, work stream execution efforts.
  • Coach and develop department heads using best business practices and help them achieve mastery within their respective domains.
  • Ensure execution of key projects within each department.
  • Help maintain operational excellence and focus on monitoring and delivering results.
  • Network, analyze and identify potential target impact areas.
  • Shape the development of effective Fundraising support.

 

Business Development

  • Develop and implement strategies that align with the organization’s overarching goals and vision.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and oversight of new projects and initiatives to drive growth and operational excellence across departments.
  • Recreate and optimize systems for implementing new initiatives across departments, ensuring consistency and scalability.
  • Develop standardized processes, tools, and templates to streamline the adoption of new programs or policies.

 

Strategic Analysis and Planning

  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to understand the unique requirements of each department and the overall organization.
  • Analyze and identify trends, challenges, and opportunities within the Jewish community to align services with community needs.
  • Develop and recommend data-driven strategies to enhance organizational impact and efficiency.

 

Operational and Financial Analysis

  • Evaluate department performance by gathering and analyzing key operational and financial metrics.
  • Develop tools and dashboards to monitor program outcomes, donor contributions, and operational budgets.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements across the departments.

 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with department managers, donors, and community leaders to gather insights and build actionable plans.
  • Serve as a liaison between department and central leadership to ensure alignment of goals and priorities.
  • Document and communicate findings, reports, and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.

 

Program Evaluation and Improvement

  • Measure the impact of programs and initiatives through quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Provide insights to enhance the reach, inclusivity, and efficiency of community services.
  • Create standardized templates and tools for departments to track and report program success.

 

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Business Analyst / Project Manager.
  • University degree – an asset.
  • Profound knowledge and experience related to Outreach and Fundraising activities.
  • Organizational skills – Ability to plan own workload effectively and to delegate, but also work autonomously when needed.
  • Project management skills and ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams to ensure they deliver on their respective key projects and initiatives.
  • Progressive track record, including leadership and management skills to oversee organization development effectively within a forward-thinking organization. Track record of dealing with operational improvement, change and turn-arounds.
  • Analytical skills combined with a well-structured, collaborative, and bold approach.
  • Ability to identify problem areas and craft logical solutions.
  • Maturity and sound managerial experience coupled with a natural entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Performance-driven, strategic thinker with numerical focus and healthy risk appetite.
  • Self-starting individual with a high focus on autonomy.
  • High-touch mentality with a track record of high impact.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbally and in writing).
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Experience with software and technology.
