Our mission is to provide every human on Earth with instant access to vital medical supplies. Do you want to change the world? Join Zipline and help us make this a reality for billions of people.
About You And The Role
Zipline builds and operates fleets of delivery drones to get critical and life-saving products, fast, to where they’re needed. In this role you will contribute to, build, and own critical pieces of our maps data infrastructure. These systems will ingest and process data from various sources to help us account for elements like ground and air risk, varying terrain, inclement weather, energy efficiency, and other drones in the airspace. You’ll play a pivotal role in scaling our pipelines to support expansion into new metros around the globe. Our ideal candidate works well in startup environments, is comfortable wearing many hats, and can guide and mentor other engineers on the team to produce outstanding results.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with a team of engineers to design and implement scalable systems for storing, processing, and accessing data to optimize path planning on a global scale.
- Develop efficient, automated, and event-driven pipelines that respond to real-time changes, ensuring our maps and routing algorithms are always up to date with the latest data.
- Define and drive the technical vision for the Routing Data Transforms team, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals.
- Mentor and support other engineers on the team, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience working in distributed systems and scaling data pipelines.
- Expertise in designing event-driven architectures that enable real-time data processing and automatic updates.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, Golang, or other object oriented languages with a focus on writing clean, maintainable, and readable code.
- Experience with geospatial data management, including tiling solutions like h3, s2, or geohash.
- A strong generalist mindset, ready to dive in and contribute across many facets of our infrastructure.
